The Lyrics of Terry Hubbard

Do You Know What Time It Is?

written 2002 © 2002 - 2010 by T. Hubbard

Do you know what time it is?

Is it dark enough for you?

What we were thinking of, was a song of love,

But you set the world on fire with your greed and your desire,

And its burnin’ now for sure.

Do you know what time it is?

Did you count the days from a book?

Well that’s been a waste of time

While the devils do their crime.

But watch TV. Just watch TV.

Lets talk about some forces

There’s some riders comin’ round the bend.

Let me tell you brothers, sisters, when they get here

we won’t be doin’ this again.

Do you know what time it is?

Are there wars enough to tell?

What they been callin’ “Peace” is just a golden fleece,

But they been doin’ it for years, ridin’ free on your fears,

And the bullets they fly for sure.

Do you know what time it is?

Have you forgotten what it’s like to breathe?

And still they kill the earth.

Ask a politician what it’s worth,

And watch TV, just watch TV.

This just in from the newsroom!

Another rider arrived today.

There was a heavy debate in Congress

‘cause they knew they had the devil to pay.

Seven nations of the world,

Seven heads of state,

Though they needed just one more, so they made it eight.

Meanwhile in the other world, starvation settin’ in.

Just as soon as you fill ‘em up, they’re empty once again.

Some of them died in the earthquakes,

Some of them died in the flood,

Some of them burned in the fire,

And some of them died in the mud.

Some of them never knew what hit ‘em,

Many never knew why.

If there ever really was a reason, it was a lie.

Do you know what time it is?

Is it dark enough for you?

What we were thinking of, was a song of love,

But you set the world on fire with your greed and your desire,

And its burnin’ now for sure.

Its burnin’ now for sure.

Its burnin’ now for sure.
